What is

Relationships and Sex Education

We produced a four-part animated video series to support teachers of KS2 to KS3 relationships and sex education (RSE) in schools on the Isle of Man. Covering puberty, periods, conception, and pregnancy, the videos were designed as clear, reassuring classroom resources that educators could rely on when delivering this delicate and sometimes challenging content.

The brief

The content needed to be curriculum-aligned animated content that was accurate, age-appropriate, and accessible, while also visually engaging. The visuals needed to be clear and informational without appearing clinical, and work hard to show that different people have widely different experiences of each of the topics through a diverse set of characters and scenarios.

Our approach

We developed a soft, considered colour palette that balanced clarity with warmth and designed a character system that represented a wide range of gender identities and sexualities in only 6 consistently appearing characters. These characters were drawn and fully rigged at both adolescent and young-adult stages to be able to show transition over time. All content was delivered through clean vector animation, paired with a soothing yet authoritative young adult female voice recorded in-studio.

The impact

The series is now used as a trusted classroom aid, giving teachers—many of whom do not regularly teach RSE—confidence and structure when delivering these lessons. Alongside the videos, we created a reusable library of vector assets ready to be deployed across worksheets and wider digital learning materials, extending the project’s value.
