Visual Identity

Go Wild Festival

The ‘Go Wild’ festival was dreamt up by theatre-makers Chloë Shimmin and Michelle Jamieson of Hello Little People (in collaboration with the Manx Wildlife Trust) as a way to celebrate the Isle of Man’s UNESCO Biosphere status with its younger residents in a day of performances, arts and crafts.

The brief

We were approached to design a visual identity for the festival. This identity needed to extend beyond poster and banner art, and do the work to make all the activities on the day feel like they were all part of the ‘Go Wild’ brand. For this we challenged ourselves to find something that would be impactful for young people attending with their families, economical to produce at scale, and environmentally friendly too.

Our approach

Our chosen result used block shapes and colours that could be easily replicated in both printed designs, and also be painted onto larger display boards by hand.

This design language really came into its own in the paper programme handed out on the big day, which featured a fully illustrated map of the festival grounds at Milntown Gardens with all the key locations and attractions picked out in little illustrated scenes. In its centre was a custom-produced, colour-coded timeline of the day and all the amazing activities attendees could enjoy.

The festival was an amazing success with over a thousand attendees for ages 0-11, and their adults - of course!
